Closing open TCP ports in XP

Every time I do a netstat command in a dos window I notice a session running on ports 1025 and 1026 with a site called downloads.aaa1screensavers.com. I tried to close these sessions in task manager under processes/PID but the sessions are listed. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Get rid of whatever spyware you have on your computer (duh!). Decent spyware doesn't care if you kill the process and will happily spawn another..

Forgot to mention that I did spyware/adware scans with Spybot, SpySweeper, Bazooka Scanner, and Ad-Aware. Will try some of the other software/online scanners mentioned in the article along with posting a HiJack Log.

find your suspected processes (you can do this manually) with process explorer. Download at www.sysinternals.com

first steps, check browser and explorer environment

1) Be sure to disable suspected iexplore ADD-in objects first by using rightclick on the E on your desktop and tab programs, button manage add-ins.

2) In your regular file explorer, check your toolbars under the view menu to disable any suspected shell integrations.


1) for each process you find suspecting, rightclick on the process, suspend
again, right click the process again -> properties.

2)find the command line and go to the process directory.
3) When you are not sure what a process is, type its executable name in www.google.com.

4)rename the process to processname.ex_old

repeat steps 1 to 3 for each suspected process.

5) When you have suspended and renamed all your suspected processes.
kill them all, rightclick on suspended process, terminate/kill.
6) For deleting spyware use the Microsoft tool. You need a legitimite copy of windows to download ms anti spyware. Be sure to do this step before you reboot your computer.
