comp wont boot

When i try to turn it on the mobo beeps and im looking at black screen but the fan and lights are on, harddrive is still spinning.

please help i really need to get this comp working.

P.S.- i have tryed to replace the ram ( no luck)

ok i found out that is a Display adapter problem ( the mobo beeps 1 long and 2 short)

how do i fix this>?

Hi

if you know its a Display adaptor issue then either your graphics card is faulty or the AGP/PCI slot or BUS is faulty, if the slot is faulty then you will have to replace the board.

Please post your system specs. Is this a new system you are building, or is it a system that has been working for some time now, and suddenly stopped? Details please.

sorry i couldnt post this sooner but I found out that the card that powers the LCD screen is defective in my comp as well as everone elses that bought one. Gateway will no fix or recall anyone the thousands that were defective. Mine also has a problem with the graphics which is actually built into the chipset ( this is not a gaming comp)

I cant really give you details specs but what i can remember is

Gateway profile 4.0
256mb ram
80 gb hdd
intel 2.6 Ghz (solo)
dont know the mobo
