Computer keeps restarting, cpu fried??

my computer restarts a lot,
I cant run norton anti virus unless i use the one on their web site, I also cant manage to do memory test, or cpu test as my computer restarts during them.

3dmark 05 passed the game tests.
cpu test restarted.

any ideas?

you can use avg free edition (free.grisoft.com), a capable software available for free instead of NAV, i reccomend it.

what kind of computer is it? what has changed before this problem occurred? what is the machine's history?

you can download memtest86 or the microsoft windows memory tester and create a boot disc. then you can boot your pc to said disc and run the tests. both programs can be found via google.

tried memory test on 2 blocks of memeroy, it restarts on both blocks. first block 1 gig doesnt even get a pass. Old 512 gets 2 or 3 passes be4 restarting. it restarts at the same event each time.

I had problems with my power and that made it restart but iv recently upgraded to a better make 500w.
