Computer will only selective start and hangs on shutdown

Two problems have cropped up since I installed a DLink wireless adapter. I run ME. First the computer will only selective start, regardless of what option I apply on MSCONFIG. Second, the computer hangs on shut down. I don't get the "Its safe to shutoff your computer now" message, and occasionally if I don't turn off the computer, it will actually restart itself. Thanks for any ideas.

I do not know what you hardware specs are (It really helps to place specs in your profile), but this is a common issue in 98/Me.
Do a search at Microsoft Knowledge base ,This problem is often fixed with O/S,driver update.

I updated the video card driver but that didn't help. This is an old computer with only a 266 mHz processor but I do have 296 mb of RAM.
