I have a computer that would not boot. It did this before and a cable was loose. So I first checked that and after I reseeded the cables it booted and started to preform ScanDisk.
After it completed that I know get the following error.

Searching for Boot Record IDE-0 OK

Disk Error
press any key

I booted from a startup floppy and when I try to access the c drive it says "invalid drive specification".

The drive is recognized in the BIOS.

Is this drive now toast?

Please HELP!

Is this a brand new computer? If so, you will first need to partition and format the harddisk, then install an operating system such as W98, W2K or XP.
When checking, are all the master/slave jumpers on the HD correct?

If it is an existing system that was running before, please fill out your computer-specs and tell us what OS you have.
