Connecting to Linksys EZXS55W

First time poster here. I just bought a Dell Laptop and am trying to connect it to the router. My Desktop (connected to port 1) is plugged into the router and it works fine. The laptop in (connected to port 2) receives no or limited connection. My ISP is Cox Cable. Any ideas on how to get my laptop full connectivity?

I called up Linksys technical support and they made me input new ip addresses, gateway, subnet, DHCP server addresses into the laptop but it still didn't work.

Bare with me as this is the first time I'm using a router. Thanks. Any help would be appreciated.

That Linksys is not a router, but a switch. You can't share an interenet connection with that.
