converting winmail files help please

I recieved a text file from a winmail.dat file attachment from a friend . When I try to open ,it comes back as trashs and garbage. Is there some easy way to convert them into a file so WORD can read.I tried a couple of free downloads on the wed but still end up with garbage.

I might not be doing it right, is there some easy way to do it

still unable to open

Thanks for the info but still can not open,in the biblet program I drag the file to the program, it opens what looks like a black screen stating

c:\unzipped\wmdecode\winmail.dat
can not find source file.

I do not understand, if i open it with word it shows as garbage

If i open the file folder it shows 2 files inside,1.named :Gail1.txt,text document,627kb

the other winmail.dat.txt,6kb

I suggest you ask the sender to NOT attach anything in RTF-format (default in Outlook) but as plain text or plain html. Ask them to send it again.

do a google with "winmail.dat"
