Corsair memory issues

Computer newbie here so here goes...

I have a Gigabyte M/B k8n pro I have had a 512 stick of corsairs
cmx512re-3200llpt (ecc) in it for 2 years working great. I just bought a 1 gig stick of corsairs cmx1024-3200c2pt and when I install it I get a long beep and the comp. wont boot. I can use either of these sticks by themselves but not together. They are both 400 mhz. The timing on the 512 is 2326 and on the 1024 it is 2336 both cas 2. Any ideas???

Amd 64 3200
radeon 9800 pro 128
Gigabyte k8n pro mobo (have not updated bios since purchase)
WD hd 150 sata
X-Fi sound card

I think the problem might be mixing the ecc RAM with non-ecc RAM. Sometimes you can mix them but sometimes it can cause problems.

yes I agree, ECC ram is for servers and a lot more expensive..that is the problem
