The monitor is usually powered by a seperate mains lead, unless you have one of those older machines where the power supply has an in and out socket and the monitor is fed from that.

If your PC wont start up take a look at this google page I found , theres plenty of links to advice.

So when you hit your case's power button, you get nothing?

Sounds like a dead power supply to me. According to your profile, you have two systems. Try swapping the PSU as a test to confirm that this is the problem.

That sounds like a dead motherboard
