  1. Hello everyone,

First would like to say thank you for your time and appreciate what you all do. I have attached a copy of my HijackThis log and wondered if you would mind taking a look at it.

The problem Im currently having is that when using Firefox or IE a LOT of websites fail to load or hang.

    Thanks again everyone!

    Hello and welcome to Techspot.

You are running more than one antivirus programme. This is not recommended and can cause conflicts etc. You should uninstall one of them.

You might want to copy and paste these instructions into a notepad file. Then you can have the file open in safe mode, so you can follow the instructions easier.

Turn off system restore.(XP/ME only) See how here.>

Boot into safe mode, under your normal user name(NOT THE ADMINISTRATOR ACCOUNT). See how here.>

In Windows Explorer, turn on "Show all files and folders, including hidden and system". See how here.>

Open your task manager, by holding down the ctrl and alt keys and pressing the delete key.

Click on the processes tab and end process for(if there).

    Close task manager.

Run HJT with no other programmes open(except notepad). Click the scan button. Have HJT fix the following, by placing a tick in the little box next to(if there).

    R0 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main,Start Page =

R1 - HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings,ProxyServer =<Fix this if you didn`t set this proxy yourself, or don`t know what it is.

    O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [AlcxMonitor] ALCXMNTR.EXE

    O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [Windows Update Checker] C:\WINDOWS\ntnts-.exe

    O16 - DPF: {E93A6FCA-C052-45DF-AC9B-B729066092F8} (Util Class) -

Click on the fix checked button.

    Close HJT.

Locate and delete the following bold files and/or directories(if there).

ALCXMNTR.EXE Search your system for this file and delete all instances of it.

Reboot into normal mode, turn system restore back on and rehide your protected OS files.

Post a fresh HJT log and let me know if you`re still having problems.

    Regards Howard
