Cpu fan question

Can anyone tell me what to look for in a cpu heatsink/fan? Im lookin to buy one that will cool better than my stock fan. I need a socket A(462) for a asus a7v8x-mx mobo..I dont want to buy one and then someone tell me it sucks Also can someone tell me what temp a cpu should run at?

I would start by find some products in your price range. Then look for reviews of those items. There are quite a few websites dedicated to cooling solutions.

As far as CPU temp, it depends on the CPU. Some run hot, some run cooler.
You need to find the normal temps for the CPU you have.

You can usually find a document online that will show the max temp for a CPU. A quick google search would probably show the same info.

Ok thanx alot man. I know its old but i have a amd 1500+ 1.3 @ 2700+ 2.16
Im running pc probe and it says my temp is 51c/123f . Thanx again

just did the google search like you said and found my max temp should not go above 90c...
So does this mean my fan is doin ok or should i still get a new one?
