This is my dilema, I have an Intel board, running @ a 533 bus speed. My question is, can I take an Intel CPU running @ 800 FSB? Would my Mobo recognize it or will it default to 533? I was looking for a 533 FSB CPU with Hyper threading but I can't find it anywhere. Seems that they might have did away with that Cpu. HELP!! :hotbounce

If your board supports a 200mhz (800) CPU, you just need to swap the CPUs (you might need to have at least PC3200 Ram though). Any motherboard with a i865/i875/i915/i925 chipset will have no problems accepting such a CPU.

If it doesn't support such CPUs, you need to hunt for the 3.06Ghz P4. It was the only P4 with a 133mhz (533) FSB which supported HyperThreading.

MOST intel boards, if they were purchased as fairly new boards, will likely need a BIOS update to use newer CPUs. Especially the D865GBF, D865GLC, D845XXX and D915GAG/GLC
