CPU/MotherBoard Fitting

Hey,

I'm getting around to building my own computer, and need some help with processors ans and motherboards.

I found a nice Soyo ATX motherboard, and I need to know if the processor I found will fit it. The motherboard says it supports AMD Athlon™ 64 socket 754 processors, and what I found doesn't say anything about 64 socket or 754. The processor I found is an AMD Athlon™ XP Processor 2800+, and in the specifications, it says it's socket A. Is that the same thing? They're both from the same website.

Please help me, and here's a reference to the items.

No, that AMD socket A cpu wont fit in a socket 754 mobo.

Only the Athlon 64`s socket 754, and some AMD socket 754 semprons will fit in a 754 mobo.

Make sure that when you order the cpu, you get one that is socket 754.

Or of course you could go and buy the newer socket 939 mobo and Athlon64 939 cpu.

Regards Howard :) :)
