Cpu usage always at or around 100%

Hello,

I have a Compaq Presario with

Amd athlon 64 processor 3500+
2.9 ghz,960 mb of ram
it has windows xp media center with sp2

the problem is,the cpu usage is always at 100% and the comp very slow.

i have looked at other threads but they didnt really help
the process that seems to be using the most is "svchost.exe"

any ideas?

That certainly sounds like a spyware/malware issue & so I will move your thread to the proper area. While you're here take the time to read the sticky threads in the Security forum & follow the advice/walkthroughs.
