Hi,
I'm at a loss as to what my problem is, I believe it is my memory or some driver.

My computer started to restart automatically around a week ago. I cannot remember installing any new software or hardware prior to this.

It is more common for it to restart when I turn on the computer although it has occoured whilst play Command and Conquer.

I told the computer not to restart at a critical error and got the "blue screen".

Here is what it says:

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
*** STOP: 0X00000050 (0XE7F0F514, 0X00000001, 0X80574A9F, 0X00000002)

(I don't know what this is).

The system event log writes:

I have ran the basic checks, eg anti-virus scans, spyware, malware, defraged, disk checked etc

I also let memtest run for 3 hours with no errors reported. I plan to let it run the night through tonight.

I HAVE ATTACHED MY LAST 6 MINIDUMPS. (I don't know what to do with them). Minidump 12 was dumped due to a crash described above at 10:38am.

Any help would really be appriciated.

Thank you.

Dan

Hello and welcome to Techspot.

5 minidumps crash at alcan5wn.sys. Alcatel USB ADSL NDIS 5 WAN miniport driver.

1 minidump crashes with memory corruption, and references vsdatant.sys. This is your Zonealarm firewall.

Update the drivers for your Alcatel device, and also, update Zonealarm.

Regards Howard

Hi,

Your crashes have three culprits.
1. Faulty version ZoneAlarm is installed. De-install ZoneAlarm
2. One minidump is crashed with one byte corruption. Reseat the ram to another memory slot
3. Most of the system crashes are crashed by Alcatel USB Speedtouch ADSL modem

Hi
Thanks a bunch for the replies.

I remember when ZA crashed. It only did it once after the USB drivers crashed.

I have updated my USB drivers.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled zone alarm and
swapped my memory sticks.

I have two slots - both filled,
so all I could do is swap them.

If this hasn't work I'll let you know, but I remember getting the Blue Screen of Death with my old USB drivers and so I installed some new onces.

It was a different error message to the 05 one I get now.

Why would these drivers be ok for so long, then suddenly start crashing?

Thanks
Dan

Why would these drivers be ok for so long, then suddenly start crashing?

Maybe the drivers just became corrupted, or maybe something you installed was conflicting with them. Who knows.

Regards Howard :)

Hi, BIG mistake guys, I gave you all the wrong dump files except one and it crashed again today...

So I debugged the dump myself and it said it was an ATI.DLL.

So I searched for the file on my comp, and downloaded the dll and replaced all the copies of this file on my comp?

Should that sort it?

Thanks.
Dan

Ati.dll. is part of your graphics drivers.

Maybe uninstalling, and reinstalling your graphics drivers will help, if what you`ve done already doesn`t help.

Regards Howard :)

Ok.
It's restarted again and this time the dump quoted memory corruption.

I have run memtest for 16 hours with no errors reported.
I ran another different memory test once through with no problems.
I have also swapped the memory around in my computer.

Any other ideas/advice?

thanks
dan

typically this is related to memory hardware problems. run memtest 86 and check your memory.

Some faulty ram can pass Memtest86+.

Try running your system with just one stick of ram. See if that helps.

Of course faulty ram can mean. Faulty physical ram/video ram/L2 cache ram of the cpu/Damaged page file(virtual ram).

Go HERE and follow the instructions, if you haven`t already done so.

Regards Howard :)

Jus to update you,
I have just booted up and got another different BSoD.
At first a error box came up saying "The memory could not be written" and then the STOP error: c000021a

No dump was written.
Any advice?
Thanks
Dan

0xC000021A: STATUS_SYSTEM_PROCESS_TERMINATED

This occurs when Windows switches into kernel mode and a user-mode subsystem, such as Winlogon or the Client Server Runtime Subsystem (CSRSS), is compromised and security can no longer be guaranteed. Because Win XP can’t run without Winlogon or CSRSS, this is one of the few situations where the failure of a user-mode service can cause the system to stop responding. This Stop message also can occur when the computer is restarted after a system administrator has modified permissions so that the SYSTEM account no longer has adequate permissions to access system files and folders.
