Ok I just got in from work and fired the game up properly and I can tell you right now that ray tracing is absolutely worth turning on in this game. You do have to use DLSS to get a reasonable frame rate but the visual difference is quite staggering, the reflections on the cars are very prolific and you really miss them when you turn RT off.Based on his comments and what I saw from him running with Ray tracing on didn't look like that big of a difference to me and not worth the performance hit if you have to turn it off on a 3090.
Infact with all the things he turned off just to keep it smooth I would feel like I wasted a ton of money on a 3090.
What cpu are using to push your RTX 2080?
Im using an i7 4790K at 4.7ghz, so far it seems fine, the game is heavily limited by the GPU. You don’t need a 3090 to play this game, my 2080 is handling it well enough. Sure the performance is lower than any other game I’ve tried on it but it’s also probably the best looking game I’ve ever seen and that’s with DLSS performance mode on. The difference in visual fidelity with DLSS is negligible, far far smaller than when you turn RT off.
with the exception of minecraft this is the biggest differenceI’ve seen RT offer in a game.
As for feeling like you wasted a tonne of money on a 3090, well, I mean even if the game ran perfectly would you not feel that $1400 on a GPU is a bit of a waste of money anyway?
