Ddr and sdram

I was looking at a new computer and I know that ddr ram is obviously better than sdram but if anyone could give me an opinion on what's better.......256 ddr or 512 sdram.......thnx

I'm not sure if that is a very good question.

For one, the choice seems clear - DDR is almost always cheaper. So there's shouldn't be an argument between 256 mb DDR vs 512mb SDRAM involving price.

What is best really depends on the entire computer itself and how you plan on using it.

I personally might think more SDRAM would probably "feel" better than 256 DDR if you use Windows XP and plan on gaming. But DDR is necessary to really experience the full speed of modern systems, which should probably have more than 256mb in them anyway.

Can you tell me your situation? I will let you know how I would approach it.

say for instance an amd xp 3000 +2.2 ghz (256mb)as opposed to celeron 2.6 ghz with the 512 sdram
