Hi Gang,

I have a MSI 865PE Neo2 MB, Running Win XP SP2 (Last Version B4 Vista).

I have a Seagate 500gig SATA II hd that I am trying to install as a single drive with a fresh copy of the OS on it.

In device manager it seems to show up as a IDE not a SATA drive, is this correct?

If so, can this drive not been installed as a sata so i can get better performance?

I have downloaded various drivers from both MSI and Intel but none seemed to work and I am just in a mess right now. In device manager there is no sata controller showing but there is 2 82801EB Ultra ATA Storage controllers?

Any help or advice as to what to do would be great as I am going grey way ahead of my time.

Thank you in advance

Kenny

If you're going to install WinXP fresh onto the SATA drive. Just plug the SATA drive in, set the boot order in the BIOS and boot with the XP CD in the drive. Your motherboard may require a driver for the SATA controller but most don't need it with XP SP2.
