Dell inspiron 5100 not charging

ac adaptor is known good- Laptop runs from battery only- any ideas? where can I find a motherboard schematic?

Unless your a qualified electronics expert with the ability to fault trace and repair motherboards, a schematic wont be much use to you.

Have you looked on Dell's site in the support area for your laptop model? Sometimes they have some excellent references there, including tech bulletins that may cover the discrepancy.
