desktop problems

hi all

whenever i put my pc on, the Start Menu and the Desktop Icons do not appear. all i see is my wallpaper.
i press alt+ctrl+delete and go into New Task (RUN..) and type in "explorer" but nothing opens up.
so i think theres seriously wrong with my explorer file or something.

anyone know how to fix this?

PS 1: i can still access my pc by clicking Browse in the RUN window. i just want my start menu back

PS 2: this problem is on my downstairs pc. so the pc specs in my profile are not the right ones.

Have you tried booting into safe mode?

If so do you still have the same problems?

Maybe a Windows repair will sort the problem out for you.

If you are running XP or 2000 then go HERE and follow the instructions.
