DirectX 9.0c Grapjhic Adapter HELP PLEASSE

Helloooo! Please Help me i installed the sims 2 and it says direct x 9.0c graphic adapter was not found what should I do?!!?!

BTW, check if you have the latest DirectX 9.0C, available from Microsoft, and the latest video drivers for your graphics card.

I don't know very much about computers. I don't know how I can find the motherboard information or anything else you ask for on the other thread listed. But I'm having a problem with Sims 2.

I'm not quite sure what a graphics adapter is.

Can anyone help?
