I was wondering if there was a way to disable DVD/CD drives through the command prompt, I want it to be disabled the same way it is by right clicking on the drive in device manager and selecting 'disable'.

Is it possible?

Thanks.

Windows is built around the GUI, so there's a ton of things you can't do with commands. I believe this would be one of them short of writing a script or some sort. You might be able to make a batch file that edits the registry so it disables your optical drives, but it will require a restart and be quite a hack.

Linux, of course, is built around the console. So pretty much anything you can do with a GUI you can do with commands.
