Help!

I've been trying to watch DVD's and games on my laptop lately but it dodes not seem to be reading the disc. Usually it auto plays but this doesn't initiate when i put the game in, i then try to do it manually:
start>my computer>DVD/CD-RW(F: )>
But it again, when clicked it doesn't load the game but goes into the drive completely blank, i also try to right click but no option to play just to open the file which again, has nothing in it.
I was able to play before but now ... nothing.

Any help would be fantastic, please.

Thanks,

Joe.

Will the dirve read DVD data disks?

There are a couple of possibilities as to what is causing the problem.

1. By leaving autoplay enabled one of your commercial disks has installed a nasty rootkit on your system. ( this is why savvy folks DISABLE autoplay)

2. If the drive wont read ANY kind of DVD disk, then the DVD laser may have died.

3. it's a windows file system problem. this can usually be fixed by uninstalling the IDE channel the drive is on in device manager under IDE ATA|ATAPI controllers. then reboot and windows will reinstall the IDe channel and the drive when it restarts.
