Discs for CD/DVD drive

Hello! Please forgive my ignorance, but how do I determine which Cd's and DVD's are compatible w/ my drive? I have an HP Pavillion dv9000 w/ an HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-4084N drive. I can record on Mamorex CD-RW and Memorex LightScribe DVD+R discs, but it does not recognize Maxel's DVD+RW discs. Thanks!

That drive is supposed to write to both DVD-R and DVD+R, but it could be partially defective if it is a year old, or has been used a lot. DVD-RW drives are extremely fragile... and the HP drives are more fragile than most.
You might want to try an alternate drive as a test... Luckily a replacement is less than $49.

Thanks! I'll take it to Best Buy for them to check it. I just bought it in January so it's still under warranty.
