BigFix on my parents PC is recomending that the PC should Defragment the disk after 180 days. My parents only use the PC to surf the web. Sometimes their PC is sluggish, but that is only when the anti virus scanner is on. There is no spyware/adware or viruses on the PC.

Should I Defrag the disk ? If so, how do I do it ? I read somewhere you should run "Scan Disk", but I cant remember if you run ScanDisk before or after you Defrag the disk.

What should I do ? Will the PC run faster if I defrag ?

If they aren't doing any large downloading or file moving/deleting then I wouldn't worry about it. You can always go to Disk Management and choose defrag, and have it give you a report first. Then you can tell how much it is fragged and whether or not it is worth while. But for their usage I wouldn't think it would be needed.

Just start a defrag right before everyone sleeps. When it comes to a defrag, it can't hurt.

Programs/Accessories/System Tools/Disk Defragmenter.

Will it run faster? Well, maybe not or maybe so. Try it and see :)
