well the reason im asking is because my bro wants me to format his pc for him, but its a pre-built one and we did not get any disks with it. will it be okay to straight away go and reinstall, or will i need drivers for the mobo?

its a ASUStek K8-SLA motherboard btw.

thanks a lot :)

Is this a HP/Compaq/Dell or some other company made computer? If so, what is the model number?

You do need drivers before you do the reinstall. The system will most likely not function properly without them. But if you have the model number, you can likely find all your drivers on the maker's website.

some prebuilt machines that dont come with the cds have a software on them that lets you burn one or in a hidden partition so when booting the pc you can choose to run from it..

check if it has those things first...
