Is it possible to install windows xp through dos mode?
Yes it is.
Navigate to the i386 folder containing the XP installation files and run "winnt".
I have been typing that alot and it keep tell ing me that the driver is not ready to read or some what of that case.
Yes, the infamous "some" error.. You should apply the "some" solution to this to get it fixed.
Please! Do pay attention to what your computer tells you!
Is your Windows XP on a CD? Does your DOS installation load the CD-ROM drivers?
the command to invoke xp installer is winnt32. it will do the same as install GUI.
It will load the disk then say "NOT READY READING DRIVE E:"
why are you doing it the hard way? Why not just load windows directly from the CD?
That the thing when I do it from the disk it not read and skip to the floppy.
check the bios boot sequence
before putting the cd in,
get into bios (by tapping esc, del, f2 or some other key).
once in bios, go to boot sequence, and select "boot from cd first", hard disk second, and floppy third.
put the cd in the cd rom drive
save the bios and exit.
you should be ok.
