Downloading Drivers From One Computer to Another...

I have a disappointing Dell Inspiron 6000 notebook. I recently had to reinstall Windows XP all over again. I asked Dell to send me the disc needed to download my drivers and other things needed for my computer to operate. But, of course they could not provide me with one because "they don't send them for my computer anymore," even though my laptop is only two years old. So, my problem is, since my laptop can not even recognize that I have a modem I am unable to go online and download the drivers and programs from the Dell website. So I was wondering if someone could tell me if I bought some type of cord to link my laptop with another, would I be able to use the internet on the working computer to download the drivers and programs to my broken laptop?? I know very little about computers so pleaaaaase help!

Thank you!

And how would you install the driver for this "cord"? :p

Just download and write the drivers to a CD or, If the laptop recognises USB, to a USB disk.
