Whenever i am downloading through P2P software, my broadband connection dies out after a short amount of time. It still says it is connected but no data is sent or received making the connection inactive. In order to disconnect and connect again I have to unplug the Modem's USB cable and plug it back in. I have tried disabling my firewall, made sure the power options dont hibernate or sleep my pc, disables "disconnect if idle" in internet properties and also disabled my firewalls all of which made no difference to the connection errors.

Any ideas would be much appreciated.

cheers

Does this happen only with P2P software and if so what are you using? I use Limewire with no problems. I would try that if you are not already using it.

ISPs have techniques to insure that the bandwidth you are consumming is within
the limits of the EULA. it can include massive slow downs in data flow.
this is all done with Quality of Service controls in the hardware in response to
controls in the TCP headers.

Try downloading w/o use of BitTorrent and Limewire, which will serialize the
download.
