DRU 350C D link web cam driver problem?

Using XP Home, SP 2, on a HP Notebook: ZE 4230- 512 Ram, 1.83Ghz processor, have the D Link Web Cam DRU- 350C (350K pixels) connected via USB 2.0 connection.

The picture is simply terrible. See attached pic. The pictures used to be better. Same picture via USB 1.0 connection.

Using the driver I downloaded from a driver site,
with current driver (about year 2000) - see installation instructions attached.

Thus the driver apparently is the most current. (yr 2000 or so)
Had driver also from original disk.

That is, when testing hardware via the divpcam.exe or testing Web Cam in Skype, for example.

Picture is very streaky horizontally. Very streaky.

However: The test color vertical bar is crisp and clear.

Tried changing registers and there was no change in the picture.

What could be the cause for this streaking?

Could lighting have caused this effect?

Driver?

Am using natural light in a well lit room.

Even with incandescent light streaking is pronounced.

And set lighting to Auto. Streaking is consistent.

Or could it be the hardware?

Thought I recalled the picture being better in the past.

It has been a few years since I used this DRU 350C WebCam hardware.

Previous pictures were OK.

Please advise.

Thank you in advance,
Robert

I have a similar problem, however I have no picture whatsoever. Haven't managed to get it working yet, what driver did you use? (would you mind sending it to me)
