Dual layer DVD_RW drive problem

I just purchased and installed the NEC ND 3500AG. I bought it because it supports dual layer burning, and wanted to give it a go.

I also purchased DVD_RW disks that are 9.4Gb each.

I have already ripped a DVD to my HD (using DVD decrypter) and now when I go to burn it (using Nero 6.03), I get a message saying my DVD disk that I want to burn to is only 4.8GB. In other words, it is not recognizing that it is a 9.4Gb disk. It is only recognizing 1 layer.

Within Nero it shows the DVD disk properties as being only 4.8Gb. It also shows that my DVD drive support double layer (as it should) so I don't think it is a problem with the drive itself...

The disks are Victor JVC DVD-RW 240 min / 9.4Gb (VD-W240HG5)

Any help? I am brand spanking new to the world of DVD-RW drives, so likey the problem is real simple.

Any ideas here? Thanks in advance.

Never mind... I think I found the answer to my insanity.

[sigh]

There is a such thing as double sided DVDs eh? I bought 5 of them thinking they were double layer DVDs.

[another sigh] :hotouch:
