great! here's my thought process ...

connect vga monitor plug -> vga pc port
connect dvi monitor plug -> dvi pc port

right click on Desktop
scroll down to Properties
click on Settings tab

set Display Choice 1 to vga monitor
set resolution to 800x600
set colour quality to 16mb

set Display Choice 2 to dvi monitor
set resolution to WHATEVER
set colour quality to 32mb

got to Advanced settings
click on Monitor tab

vga monitor default set to 60MHz
other choices 56, 60, 70, 72, 75, 85

dvi monitor default set to 75MHz
other choices 60, 85

DO I KEEP THESE SETTINGS?

Once each screen are detected by Windows, it's quite easy to set them up but the Resolution/Colors/Refresh rates depend on the screens so without further information there's not much we can do to help.

I guess that's what forums are for. ;)

I might not answer them in the following hour though. :p

thanks for your humour Didou ...

many forums claim to be user friendly but not really in regards to newbie users. i guess we ask really stupid questions, but hey how else are we going to learn right? thanks again for your patience. take care, mikio

Didou,

Dual monitor setup complete. VGA and DVI monitors running simultaneously but I'm having difficutly setting separate resolutions. Also, I want VGA as primary monitor but DVI automatically was set to it. I'll continue to fuss with it until I hear from you, maybe I can work some of these issues out myself.

Mikio:)

When you right-click on the desktop & go to Properties, then settings, do you see two screens ? (example in attachment)
