DVD drive and games

Does a DVD drive have anything to do with gamming. Like with a better drive will I get faster FPS or faster loading times. How many games now days still need to have the CD in it?

No. FPS is dictated chiefly by 3 things in this order of importance:

1. Your graphics card and graphics memory.
2. Your CPU
3. Your onboard memory.

How about loading times. And how many games still need a cd. Now you can even download HL off steam.

A DVD drive can affect game lags, but as Tedster says, video card/drivers, CPU type/power and memory have more to do with FPS and loading

Really a DVD/CD drive won't affect game play all the much except perhaps when loading levels or starting a game.

What I stated previously is what you need to improve performance.

Not really, unless your dvd drive is trashed or your cd is demolished.
