DVD drive will play sound from cds but not from dvds???HELP

My dvd drive will play the dvd but i cant hear anything. This is the original dvd drive that came with my computer. I didn't recently install any programs. Also, when I try to see sample clips from websites, I can't see any video from the clips...Only a blank piture where the clip should be. I tried to restore the defaults in internet options... That didnt work. Before I do a full system recovery....Any suggestions???

Why are you bumping all of these threads?

It could be because your DVD drive is going out. But since web clips don't work either, it might be something with your computer.
