DVD Drive won't read FarCry/Civilization IV disk!

I have just returned from the shop to install civilization IV onto my PC, and when I put the DVD in all it does is 'click' like it is trying to read the disk, but nothing happens, then task manger tells me everything is not responding, untill you take out the disk, then everything goes back to normal and it tells me that "explorer had to close, send error report", but thats it.

So no new game at the moment then! GRRRRRR!! LOL! :bounce:

I have used hundreds of other disks on this drive without a problem, but these two games do not want to read.

Any help would be great, as valuable gaming time is being lost ,,,,,

I have the same problem, and I can't do anything. The DVD doesn't works, everything stops, then everything responds whwen I take out the disk.
The DVD work with other disks properly.

Can anybody help me with this problem?

I have now found that it was the disk drive that was 'out of date' and it did not like the dual layer format that the new games were on. I bought a new drive (samsung) and everything works fine. I have kept the old drive in the system as it ran all of the other disks fine. Hope this helps you now i have found out the problem. )
