DVD movie transfer to VHS?

Hello everybody,
This might sound like an ignorant question but is there a program that can somehow allow you to record a favorite DVD movie onto a VHS tape right from a computer?
I know I could just go out and buy the VHS copy but I was just wondering.

And where do you think you would stick the VHS tape? It doesn't fit into the floppy drive..

You don't really need any special software - any DVD player will do. What you do need is hardware. A video card with TV-out and a VCR hooked up to it is all you need.

Actually, I think Macrovision protection will not allow it to copy to VHS, I believe the screen still shows video but the brightness is on a sine wave between very dim and very bright.

I'm sure there is an easier way, but you could remove the protection with dvdshrink and then play those files with your favorite software while using the video out on your video card ran to your vcr.
