I've thought about keeping all things that need encryption in one file, and then encrypting that file. Is that a practical way of handling basic encryption for your PC? (Why not, if not?)

Also, what programs make it easiest to do this with a reasonable level of encryption?

(WinXP PC)

Win XP/Pro has an EFS (Encrypted File System) BUT DO NOT USE IT!
Your login password is part of the encryption key and changing the password
will mean loosing access to the data -- even if you change the password back to
the original value!

Thank you for the heads-up on what not to use! :D
