EDIMAX router slows down my internet

Hi. I was hoping you guys can help me out with my problem with my EDIMAX Router BR-6104K. I have been using my router for several months now and it was working just fine until recently. My internet connection became slow and unstable (frequent time outs and high ping results). I called my ISP about this problem, and they suggested that I hook up my DSL modem directly to a computer, to see whether the problem is from my ISP or from my router. We found out that it was my router that was causing the problem. I read somewhere that I need the latest firmware for my router to function properly, so I downloaded it from Edimax site and uploaded it (Firmware V3.25) to my router but the problem still persist.

I was wondering if anyone could site some possible reasons why this is happening or any suggestions on what I should do. Thanks.

Do you have only one computer or several? Any chance that one of these has been hijacked and is using your internet connection to sell Viagra?

Disable some unneeded functionality on the router. Packet filtering, DHCP, uPnP, everything uses system resources. Turn off all the fancy stuff and see if things improve. Mind you, you have to configure your computers manually after you disable DHCP.

Im using several pc, and I dont think any of it has been hijacked.My dsl connection is unstable only when I use the router, I just made a reset on my router but still the same
