No one should be silenced from sharing their opinion unless they are promoting violence or saying blatantly racist stuff.
Talk to SCOTUS and the constitution about that. Certainly, you can find an immeasurable number of links out there that define, in the US, what Free Speech means as determined by SCOTUS. And get past the advertising crap in this link and learn what "free speech" means in the US. https://lawshelf.com/shortvideoscon...xceptions-categories-of-speech-not-protected/

Is Musk still the wealthiest person in the world?

Must is not, and never was, the wealthiest person in the world. He's just the richest man that media is allowed to talk about. There are people who are 1000 times wealthier than Musk.

Being able to criticize ideas and people without being silenced, deplatformed, and threatened. It's not that hard to understand.

And also to peddle lies and hoaxes such as poisened vaccinations and stolen elections under the pretence of Conservative politics. And that's before we consider the influence of Eastern troll farms. There are just too many con artists out there. It is impossible to have both truth and free speech on these platforms. That's the real problem here.

Right-wing and Musk logic:
If you don't want to give me your money, they you're a free-speech hating commie!!!

It's my money and I choose to spend it any way I choose, maybe even on wine and women!! Go suck a lemon.

Yes it is because you can not stop people from being dishonest or control what others believe.
But then when Twitter did control what could and could not be said they abused their power to attack and silence one side's view.
On one hand you have issues with misinformation like stolen elections but I don't see you complaining about them silencing the information on Biden's laptop. Likewise they choose to allow the fake story of Russian collusion for years against Trump. Facts were not so important then....
If you're going to control what is allowed to be said and what is not, it's got to be fair to both sides.

Is Musk still the wealthiest person in the world? Tesla stock has dropped more than 50% this year, and he just spent $44B on a rapidly depreciating asset.

The thought of Musk making his own phone is laughable. He must have seen Microsoft's effort to break into that market, and Microsoft had many more resources in terms of money, hardware engineering expertise, and a huge group of software engineers writing software for the platform.
The Most it would be is a skinned Android phone, making a smartphone OS from scratch I can't see happening.

It's simple, twitter was OK when only the "right people" were targeted, harassed, doxed, or silenced. Now that those on "the right sid eof history" can be criticized, it must be shut down NOW NOW NOW!

Blatant nepotistic corruption at every conceivable level.
Here's the thing, though. Musk, on Twitter, is now banning anyone who criticizes him. That's not free speech, but since Musk owns Twitter, he is within his rights, as part of his free speech protections. So in a sense, Musk is engaging in the exact same behavior as many on either side of the political spectrum complain that the former owners were engaging in. IMO, that exmplefies that Musk is nothing more than a hypocrite.
Being able to criticize ideas and people without being silenced, deplatformed, and threatened. It's not that hard to understand.
IMO, you are on a slippery slope there. If the criticism devolves into defamation, it is not protected free speech. See the link in my above post to this thread.
Why wasnt it an issue when twitter addicts where hurling slurs at dave chapelle, a Black man? Why is it only an issue now that musk says people shouldnt be banned for wrongthink?
I think Musk will learn his lesson the hard way. When his "No holds barred" attitude descends into comments that get "dumb people" killed or injured, you can bet there will be people all over Musk's a$$ in court. Even "dumb people" have those who love them and care about them. For me, its not about what Musk thinks is right, or what Twitter, before Musk, thought was right, it is about the law in the US, the constitution, and what SCOTUS has ruled that the 1st Amendment represents in the US.

Musk will also have to abide by the laws of the countries in which Twitter maintains a presence. IMO, Musk is nothing more than a business man doing what he thinks best to maximize profit and his image. He is interested in nothing more.

And funny thing he mentioned 30% apple tax (which is total crap, sure) forgetting you need to pay subscription for fully using Tesla car as well...

The subscription you are paying for is cell service. You can fully use the car (in a way comparable to pretty much every other car) without paying anything for extra data if you wish to.

Is the real reason Apple is mad at Musk because he removed the ban on Trump? I think that is the real issue here.

Apple have always required some type of guarantee to a degree of moderation from apps hosted on their store; this is why Gab/Parlor, etc, always ended up in hot water.

Musk has sacked most of the moderation and safeguarding teams while reinstating numerous questionable accounts, it’s more likely that that’s the primary concern for Apple, not just the one account you mention. Apple have every right to protect their own brand in any way they see fit.

lol...everyone has to do their virtue signaling.
I hope that's not true. How far can this go...no one will be allowed to say anything in fear of someone being butt hurt.
You can't control the masses if you don't control the narrative hence the reason Soviet Pravda was such a big deal.

The EUSSR has entered the chat
Who exactly is the, "EUSSR". I'm not familiar with that nation block <pun intended.

Although, I think it's relevant and gratifying, that they're of the opinion that any a**hole won't be able to say what's exactly on their "mind" (loosely defined), to spread hate, outright lies, and pure billsh!t.

Try and get over your worship and admiration for the "Muskster", it's damaging your grip on reality.

You could investigate therapy. Perhaps if you contact "Elon" directly, he'll hold your hand throughout the process.

And look a that, I didn't have to "retweet" anything, I composed the post all by myself.

Did you know that ravens, (the largest of the corvid family) are very intelligent birds? In fact they can be taught to speak at least as well as parrots? (Parrots are in the order Psittaciformes).

Yet, we still refer to mindlessly repeating what another has said as, "parroting".

My take on that is, if someone doesn't have a credible belief system, an objective concept of reality, or a value system of their own, they just, "retweet" someone else's.

Can you post examples? I was aware accounts were banned for impersonation... but not for criticism.
In this case, its unclear what the reasons were for the banning. Still, that's Musk for you. Now, under Musk's control, Twitter can ban you for "no reason."

Amber Heard is, apparently, bad publicity for Musk. 🤣

That's right up there with Twitter banning the likes of the New York Post for reporting the Hunter Biden laptop story. 🤡

And still, nothing has come of that laptop story. The source of the story is also the revered Fox News. How can they be wrong?

Don't tell me, its the Deep State.

If you want to operate in the EU, you have to adhere to EU rules. This is the same for operating in any territory.

Different countries have different laws. I’m not sure why anyone would be surprised by that?
Our local Musk supporters think that Musk is, or at least should be, allowed to do anything he wants, anywhere he wants, and that he is an above the law supporter of free speech. According to them, laws don't apply to him - especially since he used the key words "free speech" in his justification for taking over Twitter.

You mean the same deep state that told us for two years that the laptop was Russian disinfo? First thing on the Republican majority Congress agenda is to start hearings on it.

`"Congress" won't be in the "majority", only the House of Representatives.

I hope they do waste the nation's legislative time and treasure on some asinine investigation of a private citizen. It means neither Democratic or Republican citizens will have have jack sh!t done on their behalf, for the next two years.

And you can watch with glee during the process.

Have you ever thought about applying for a content moderator's job over at Twitter? I hear "Elon" needs some help these days..🤣

Plus, it would be easy money. All you'd have to do is, let all the lies, hate speech, threats, and sundry other crap through, while you ignore it, and sit around sucking on Starbuck's coffee all day.

It is fair, and no one was silenced. Calm down. The Biden story hasn't gone away, and the Trump Russia collusion thing was never proven, despite Trump's obvious fawning over Putin.
