Well a lot of these comments sound like they believed it was meant to be serious.
I can see where it's possible to draw that conclusion.

As a parallel example, Donald Trump has been calculated to have told in excess of 30,000 bold faced lies during his tenure. Yet millions still hang on his every word as "gospel". Even a person who has passed Psych 101, should be able to diagnose him as a "pathological liar". But alas, such is not the case..

Hopefully "the Donald's" following will swindle, (sorry I meant "dwindle" to the level of this "dirty joke" of a politician/perennial nuisance: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lyndon_LaRouche

Putin is smart. Sure hes an invading dictator. But that doesnt make him "stupid". Putin has a lot of of leadership characteristics. But then so did Hitler. Recognising this doesnt make anyone a "Russian sympathiser".

Although in my opinion, invading the Ukraine was not a smart decision.
It's not "the Ukraine", just like it's not "the England". It's just Ukraine.

It's mostly said out of habit and is pitiful to whine about.
"THE" was used before the early 90s, when it was part of the USSR. It was there because of the translation of the Russian pronunciation, and was then named just Ukraine officially.

EDIT - I read up on it:

"Ukraine is one of a few English country names traditionally used with the definite article the. This is because the word "ukraina" means "borderland", and so would be translated as "the borderlands" — the Ukraine".

I agree the West has instigated this, you only need to look at a map of Axis eastward expansion pre-Barborossa and NATO eastward expansion since WW2 to see why Russia is paranoid.

I don't trust the Western MSM either, but Russia isn't really fighting Ukraine, they are fighting a NATO armed/trained army, high Russian casualties shouldn't come as a surprise. If Ukraine was left to survive on its own, Russia would have already taken Kiev long ago imo.
It would appear Putin said quite the opposite:

Here is the transcript: https://thesaker.is/address-by-the-president-of-the-russian-federation-february-24-2022/

Can you please quote the part you are referencing?

"We have been treating all new post-Soviet states with respect and will continue to act this way" Russia has been sending Russian instigators to Ukraine for at least 10 year and have literally been attacking them since 2014. So that's just lies. I don't see how the west is to blame for Russia invading Ukraine. You can't say Ukraine instigated it and you can't say the west did either since neither the west or Ukraine sent troops into Russia. Do you know why Poland is in NATO?

The whole reason for NATO expansion is to protect those smaller countries from Russia. If Ukraine was in NATO Russia probably wouldn't have attacked them and NATO wouldn't have attacked Russia while their military stayed on their side of the border. While Finland and Sweden aren't in NATO they are vulnerable to Russian aggression. Counties in NATO aren't threatened by NATO they are protected by it unlike Russia's government which is threatening to all the countries on its western border and its own people.

It's impossible to become rich without exploiting people. Billionaires exist because of grift.
Then it must be very easy to prove your point. Dull as that point is.
They're all psychopaths, but without the proclivity for violence. They lack empathy and remorse, while managing to stay out of jail for murder.
That is about the most shallow, uninformed, and thought free thing one could say about a group of people. Not to mention bullshit.

I agree. Isn't that just our society these days really? It's the new fad to demonize successful and wealthy people....and don't let them even get started on capitalism.
Man, I really miss the 80s...and things were not perfect then either but they were far better than what is going on now.

Brother, I gave your post a like, but please consider it a triple like.

Hard work and success has fallen out of fashion a bit lately.
But luckily, it's mostly by lazy failures so, silver lining! :D

Yeah society is in a really weird place right now. It's really kind of depressing to see how much is taken for granted and how backward things have gotten.
These days if you make inappropriate videos, obsess with looks/fame/other shallow crap, embrace every off the wall idea in popular society and demonize everyone who isn't part of the hive mind...well you're a hero to the general public and media.

But if you think for yourself or build wealth and become successful you're a real piece of crap...weird times.

I respectfully disagree with your idea that my comment was, "thoughtless and shallow"..

How about if I dial it back to, "they're all 'type A' personalities. That's more of a "pop culture psychiatric evaluation"..

I don't begrudge them their success, on anything of the sort. Nor an I "jealous" their success. Nor am I from the "hive mind", an example of which might be obsessively playing one particular video game, subconsciously searching for communion with individuals of like mind and interests, A "surrogate family", as it were. Likewise, I don't believe that "hard work and ambition" are dirty words.
.
But, I finally did get around to reading the DSM-5's section on "personality disorders" last night..After a mid level delve into various categories, I deduced that I have a "mixed personality disorder". Not enough to be "harmful to myself or others", but enough to be sort of, "interesting".

Back to topic. what is no longer "fashionable" in the 21st century, is "empire building" in the physical sense. As you can plainly tell by the world's condemnation of Vladimir Putin, it's obsolete in the 21st century. (Who BTW is a psychopath, with paranoid delusions of grandeur. As is his b*tch, Donald Trump (**)).

In our "Brave New World", empire building is done financially. This way, another sovereignty can be invaded and subjugated with much less of a physical presence, and without bloodshed.. But we do, nonetheless, have empires, which have particular spheres of influence. Off the top of my head, I'd cite M$ and Amazon as salient examples.

Then comes the question of how to differentiate financial "success". from unthrottled, unbridled, greed. For some, too much equals never enough, and so the "invasion" continues.

So, I'm going to stand by my conclusion that psychopathy makes the world go 'round. And continue to question the motives and methodology from which these "empires" arise.

I'll (mercifully), close with this little meme. "When you're climbing the corporate ladder, don't look up, as all you'll see is the person's a** who is a rung or two above you"

(**)
Their pathological lying, (particularly Trump's), is a dead giveaway

I pretty much agree with most of what you wrote here. But I think it's unfair to compare trump and Putin (GFY) to success. I'm not saying you said that directly, but it could be assumed that you were leaning that way.

Here is a little ditty on my thoughts since I heard something similar in college.

If they stand behind you, watch over them
If they stand beside you, enjoy them
If they stand in front of you, destroy them.

And guess what. Even my ex-wife thinks I am a good, kind person.

Bill Gates, who you could qualify as very successful. (at one time the world's richest man), suffers from a distorted manifestation of "survivor's guilt". To wit, "why did I live, and others have to die", morphs into, "why am I so rich, and others are so poor". I am familiar with the concept of, "noblesse oblige", but apparently Mr. Gates moral compass places him at the extreme of that concept. It also manifests itself in the ex wife of Jeff Bezos.. Whose desire it is to virtually give away all the money she received from her divorce settlement.

Psychopathy and sociopathy are not as strictly defined as the textbooks would suggest. Those are worst case, no doubt whatsoever, concrete, diagnoses. However, there are obvious personality tendencies, which tend to expand the definitions. My question is whether or not you can limit those definitions to the serial killer sitting on death row.

As for Putin and Trump, you certainly have to conclude they view themselves as "successes", no matter how the rest, (within reasonably sane examples), of humanity might view them.
And guess what. Even my ex-wife thinks I am a good, kind person.
Which entertains the questions, "why then, is she your ex", and, "are you sure she's not just patronizing you", (to her own ends, of course)? :p

Yep, but in that line of thought, Clyde Barrow probably considered himself a success. Putin (GFY) and trumps "success" are in the same league as Barrow.

I'm not sure of anything with her ;)

Well, it may not be, "the Jesus Christ", but it is, "the Holy Spirit".

These people really are ridiculous. And extremely delusional.

This War ends when Russia takes over the Ukraine. Now that they've been sanctioned, it is actually of importance to completely occupy Ukraine simply so they can negotiate against the sanctions and control when, how and if Ukraine is rebuilt.

But going one on one vs. Putin???

That's basically suicide.
suicide? probably. ridiculous? not very. not for nothing, I, myself, will give a man who will stand up for himself, by himself, and handle his business with another by going toe to toe with him, ESPECIALLY when he, and everyone else around him know for about 99.9999998% fact that his opponent will make him touch every fricking wall in whatever room that they are in, I give that man the utmost respect. elon musk is a businessman, a very successful businessman. ukraine asked him for help with the internet, and as far as I know, that 80 million came out of musks own pocket, and now, true to his word they have internet.

lets seperate the braindead from the educated, or at least the braindead from those who actually register brainwaves. how many people think that in a life or death situation, our leaders(ANY of them presently in government) would actually stand up for themselves if faced with a one on one during an invasion of this country, where they were, by sheer crap luck, caught alone with a foreign soldier? I can tell you my faith in this happening is lacking. thats the difference between generations past, and present. over the years weve had more and more officials put their influence into making laws that forbid fighting, probably for the obvious reason that theyve always been scared to fight. but then want to talk **** to other countries like theyre tough. its very easy to talk **** when you have control of troops that will ensure that their superior officer, whoever that is, wont have to fight with anything deadlier than a television remote or cell phone. in past generations, our leaders went and got down. usually at the HEAD of the army, because nobody on either side would respect any less.

in 1944, approximately 1 million american 17 and 18 year old boys KNEW BEYOND DOUBT that when the boats landed, they were going to fricking DIE. guess what? THEY WENT ANYWAYS!!! nowadays? now you have to watch how you talk to 17 and 18 year old american boys BECAUSE WORDS HURT THEIR FRICKING FEELINGS. at least musk is showing the nuts to actually stand up for what he believes in himself, BY HIMSELF. all or nothing put it all up and afterwards shut up. hands laid debt paid and it would be a dead issue. to me and anyone that I associate with, that is a man, and win lose or draw has my utmost respect. period. it isnt whether or not youll lose or win, its whether or not you have the spine to actually stand up for yourself. WITHOUT calling other men to do it for you.
