Hi im new here:) And I need Help Choosing a replacement motherboard for A buds emachines T2682. Its a socket 478 celeron D. Ive looked all over the site already but all the links are old ones. So any help is greatly appreciated. Thx.

Unfortunately socket 478 boards are hard to find these days.
Here are some options:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123008
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1559072&CatId=182

You could also modernize the system with a cpu/motherboard combo like this.
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2366368&CatId=0
This would also require a cpu fan like this one:http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1272104&CatId=0

Or buy motherboard and cpu seperately:
Motherboard:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813130064
CPU:http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103032

Regardless of which route you go you will need a new powersupply since the e-machines ones are junk. (unless you replaced it already)
I recomend tihs one:

You will also need a new copy of windows since the E-machines restore CDs won't work with a new motherboard.

Both the 478 boards and the 775 combo do(the AM2 doesn't because it's DDR2). They support higher speeds but any DDR board is backward compatible with lower speeds like PC2100 although useing old slow ram may affect performance but it won't be any worse than what you have been getting.

I replaced the PSU a long time ago. That was the first thing i did since the PSU went out and took the mobo with it. But im just worried if they'll fit my chassis and if the front usb ports and and headphone jacks will still work with the new motherboard. Im thinking on getting the Biostar P4M80M4.

The only good thing about e-machines is that they use standard micro-ATX cases with no propriatary connectors so any standard micro-ATX board will work.

OH.Kool.Im going with the EP-4VKM3I instead seeing as it has 3 pci slots and 1 AGP slot. The case has space for only 4 expansion buses so I think this board will fit. As for the Biostar It has 3 pci,1 cnr and 1 AGP So that wont work. And one more question which board will give me better performance?

Performance wise It doesn't matter. Both boards support processers and ram faster than what you currently have. They will also both fit since the hight of the boards is the standard 9.0" of most micro ATX boards. You wont be able to use the CNR and bottom PCI slot at the same time on the biostar since they share the same opening in the case.

Oh thanks man. Im gonna go with the EP-4VKM3I.Ill have to wait till tomorrow though since it says out of stock and theyll have more tomorrow. (I think)Oh and I've been seeing some of the other threads on here with similar problems. Do you think the CPU fried too?

Probably not the motherbord usually takes all the damage and protects the CPU.It's possible the CPU is fried but verry unlikely.

When it happened to me I replaced the mobo and cpu. I saved the cpu from the fried mobo and bought an inexpensive mobo and built a computer. The cpu from the fried mobo is working fine.

oh ok man. Thank you man. You've been a really big help. Ill keep you updated on how everything works out. (Oh and how does my newcomer in training label change?)
