Exchange won't backup

We have backed up using NTBackup the procedures in the 'how to' section of the
Microsoft website, it shows no errors but when we view the backup tape for
all subfolders in Microsoft Information Store they say ''No entries Found'

We only have one site, we do have public folders and the restore says errors
'refer to event log' and the event log says 'refer to backup report'.....

All the other files do backup up successfully ie. user folder files and
documents. The folders are created ie. all folders in First Storage Group
(public folder, mailbox store and log files). we cannot backup and recently
have lost a whole public folder, require urgent help to sort this problem.
