Execution of Specified Command Has Failed

I am running Windows 2000, on my IBM T20 Laptop. When I boot up, everything looks normal, and then when the boot is finished, I immediately get an error drop down menu that says: Execution of Specified Commmand Has Failed. I do not have anything in the strartup file that I can see that would cause this. All other operations are normal.

How can I find out what "command" the OS is looking for and stop this annoying error.

:knock:

Hi Hudso, welcome to TechSpot.

I would do as Nodsu says, download MSConfig. Run it and shut down anything in startup that you don't absolutely need, that's a good idea in any case. You will have to reboot, and when you do, see if you still get that error.

Also, you can look at the Event Manager, and see if you have any errors showing. Go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Event Viewer. Look in Event Viewer and see if you see any errors, this might give you a clue as to what's going on.

(Error - Execution of the specified command has failed)

I got this error upon startup.
Before I logged-in I would hear a beep.
Upon logging-in I would get this error.

Using msconfig
I tracked it down to The "System Services"
And finally to --> Windows System Firewall (manufacturer unknown)

Hope that helps someone.
Now, How do I go about fixing this?
Rather than just disabling it?
I know that the Windows Firewall can be a pain at times but it also saves me some trouble at times.
tnx in advance
