External Hard drive not found. Please help me.

I formated my external hard drive with acronis drive clenser and now when i plug it into the computer it makes the noise saying that is is detected and shows in the system tray but has no drive letter and does not show in my computer. What is wrong??

Under XP do this:

1. connect the drive as you would to the PC and turn it on
2. click on start, then run
3. type: compmgmt.msc
4. click on disk management
5. You should see letter assigned to your external drive
6. If you do then format that drive under Windows XP

If you don't see the drive then you got a problem. Try a different USB port

It will probably also need to be setup as a primary drive.

Yes Primary or Master IDE... If you have a SATA external, no jumpering is necessary
