I recently replaced a GeForce FX5300 with the above mentioned card and in the last two weeks, I have noticed that the fan built onto the card is making a lot of noise. It buzzes, but will stop if I tap on it or sometimes will just stop on its own. I don't know if this means the fan is failing or if it means that the card is failing or if it is just a nuisance that I should ignore. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated so I know where to go from here.

Thanks,

The coolers (or fans) on the cards can be replaced if it gets to be tiresome for you. Might cost anywhere from $10 to $30us to do it though.

Otherwise, I've heard tell that people can drop a little oil in the bearings to help make it quiet.
Just do a google search for FX5500 cooling or something like that. Or else if you have some oil that came with hair clippers or something similar, try using that.
