"File Error
Exception of Type System
OutofMemoryException was thrown."

The above error message occurred while trying to copy my XP OS partition from my WinMe partition using a program which I believe is using xcopy which I downloaded from http://www.lexunfreeware.com/

I am trying to backup my programs which are on one partition, my WinXP OS which is on another partition and my data which is on another partition.

I am backing them up to a 2nd hard drive.

I was successful in backing up the "program" partition but received the error on backing up the XP Partition.

Any ideas what may have caused it?

Did you check the space available on the drive?

Did you reboot and retry?

Is there perhaps a temp file gone crazy??

(Throwing out suggestions, really talking out the well known orfice...)

Don't try to copy the System Volume Information folder, or the Recycler folder. That will cause problems. These folders will be properly recreated when XP or another similar OS like 2000 is next booted on the machine.

What the hell are you doing, anyway?
