Firefox doesnt remember to open files

Firefox supposedly has the option to open files you download with
an application you choose automatically but even though I always tell firefox to
automatically open some files (eg bitorrent files with bitcomet) it always asks me what to do (even though i check the "do this automatically for files like this from now on" check box.
Anybody know why this could be happening? thanks

Check the actions associated with files in Firefox setup (under Downloads).

Under downloads the applications are there and the default action is to open the files.

I had the same problem at one time. I have since re-installed FF (for other reasons) and the problem is gone. I would suggest going to the link below and searching for/asking about the problem. Someone there should be able to help you, and if not, they can tell you how to submit the bug to Mozilla.
