freeze on boot screen!

this problem is driving me nuts! i havent been able to get my computer to start for almost a month now since my computer keeps on freezing at the boot screen. does anyone have a suggestion or a way to solve this problem?

which boot screen?
do you get any beeps when the machine powers on?
can you get into the BIOS settings?
what is showing on the screen when it stops?

isn't there only one boot screen? Well the screen with the bar loading on xp. i do not get any beeps and i can get into the bios, when it freezes it just freeze on the boot screen after loading a couple bars. any ideas?
