Future XP Updates..do i need SP2?

I saw here that microsoft will be releasing some updates/patches or whatver. Well i would love to get them, but I was thinking, i have never upgraded to SP2 for my XP. Well i have, but it gave me all of this conflicts and problems etc etc, so i got rid of it. Now if i want this update(s) will i have to have upgraded to SP2? Thanks

BTW-if i do have to, can anyone give me a site/article that helps deal with the problems with SP2 so i can get thorugh it a little better?

Well that did not really answer my question but thanks. The guide thing is very basic, and does not deal with my problem. I will just get rid of the firewall (its Norton anyways) and go with something else.

Your first post said nothing about a firewall, just that you had problems with SP2 before. The text looked like you would want SP2 again. If you do, switch off everything you can, including AV and firewall. Then use only the full network-SP2 version (or the official SP2-CD) and do it all in one go. Follow that up with an MS-update.

Less intrusive and less overhead than e.g. ZoneAlarm.
