Gaming problem on New PC Build

I wonder if someone can help me. I'm having problems gaming on my new PC build. Card is a Radeon 9600. I've updated to the latest display drivers. Games run really smoothly to a point and then just crash. The games do not crash to desktop however, sometimes the screen will go black but you can still hear the sound, other times the monitor will appear to go into sleep mode (i.e the moniotor light will go orange and not come back to green).

Now, I've also had problems with my power (as posted on the general board). Sometimes when you switch the PC on the fans will spin then stop and the machine doesn't boot. If you swap the power leads orange the system will eventually boot. I'm now wondering if these power problems are affecting my gaming too. The PSU (400W) came with the case. I'm beginning to think it could be the case/PSU that's causing both my problems but am not sure. Can anyone help?
